Get The Look: Mother’s Day & Derby Day
There’s a big, BIG weekend ahead of us y’all, with Derby Day on Saturday and Mother’s Day this Sunday. So much to celebrate and get dressed for. I always like to plan ahead when I know so much is happening. I also know that these eventful weekends call for a lot of pictures, family fun and enjoying the company of friends. So why not look our best, make the best bets and be on our best behavior for all of our amazing mom’s? Here’s my guide to tackling the weekend in STYLE!
When packing and planing ahead for the weekend, you must think two things: comfort and style. What do you intend to look like for both of these events? If you’re attending a BBQ or viewing party, a brunch or the real deal, the Derby calls for statement making pieces. Find a way to hone in on your personal style, while picking out pieces that will have you standing out in a very large crowd. Here’s a few of my favorite looks.

If you’re gardening or sipping mimosas with Mom on Sunday, what’s your game plan for your attire? If you’re like me, you know people will want to be taking pictures of the family gathering so I don’t want to look frumpy and dumpy. I also don’t want to appear overdone. Here’s what I think works for Mother’s Day!
Cheers to this fabulous weekend ahead and I wish you all safe travels, lots of fun and plenty of Mint Juleps along the way!

6 Ways To Wear Slip Dresses
DRESS | HAIR PIN | RING similar | HANDBAG | HEELS similar
The slip dress isn’t just for the bedroom anymore ladies. This trend has swept the runways the past couple of seasons, so today’s #Styled6Ways is tackling the obsession head on. We’re sharing our own approach at styling this sleek and sexy trend, while showing all of you that it’s actually pretty simple to do and stylish, too.

I’m not actually 100 percent sure that this dress I’m wearing qualifies as a real “slip dress” but I thought it was close enough. My body isn’t exactly a slip dress kind-of body in my opinion, and to say I was scared of this trend would be an understatement. I was not thrilled (at first) to see it on the rise, but now I’ve come to terms with it and I’m trying to embrace it, slowly and subtly.
The slip dress silhouette is truly just one shape… straight. When you have some curves, this style can either look too big and boxy or just totally out of place in all the wrong places. So when I saw we added this to our trend list for Styled 6 Ways, I thought of a dress I had seen at Nordstrom and how I could potentially pull it off as a slip dress doppelganger. I think it works, and I actually don’t mind it.
Although it doesn’t do much for my natural shape, I believe I did myself some justice by picking the right color and fabrication. It did allow me to feel a bit fun and flirty, as well as totally excited and ready for summer. I chose to pair a fun heel with this look so that it spiced things up a bit, and gave me some height. I can’t imagine how potato-sackish this would look if I was in flats. I’ll spare you.
All together, I love the trend. I love it more for Gigi and Kendall, but it’s not as bad as I thought. I think the other ladies killed their looks as well. Be sure to check out their blogs too before you shut down and head for the weekend. Have a good one y’all!

EASTER SUNDAY BEST
Easter Sunday is incredibly special to me. Not only does it celebrate and commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death, as written in the Christian bible, but this holiday is one of my most special childhood memories.
I can remember our exact Easter baskets, the dying of eggs, foam curls in my hair, family-wide Easter egg hunts at my grandmother’s, and always receiving a package of peeps. No matter what, whether we liked them or not, the Easter Bunny (shoutout to you Mom) brought my brother and I peeps.
Easter Sunday has also always been about the style. It’s the first time you’re stepping out in Spring style for the season. Your Easter Sunday best is either what your mom picked out (from head to toe, like below) or your favorite dress that you finally don’t have to wear a pair of tights with. Or maybe you do depending on the weather.
Long story short, Easter Sunday is special for so many reasons. I love putting on my best duds, heading to church and being with family. Here’s a little look back at some of my favorite Easter Sunday outfits and memories…
