About two weeks ago I got to mark off another dream item on my New York to-do list. Before moving to the city, I often visited the DANNIJO jewelry website to swoon over their AMAZING jewelry, crazy designs, and inspiration for their mega-successful brand. Now selling in high-end stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Shopbop, Holt Renfrew, Lane Crawford and Harvey Nichols, the Snyder sisters are making a huge, jewelry statement!
I’m inspired by their story and their route to success, and here’s why… Danielle and Jodie were middle school, teenage girls who used their cardiologist father’s medical tools to teach themselves how to make jewelry. Later they turned this inventive hobby into a business reaching customers world-wide.
For me their story is one that empowers kids to be innovative and creative, and it also encourages adults to pursue their dreams. I mean who would have thought this childhood activity would land them in Inc Magazine’s 30 Under 30: America’s Coolest Entrepreneurs List and The New York Times? Their brand hasn’t stopped since. It’s now a multidimensional company, and add these achievements to their growing list:
• Among the first to launch fashion casing for iPhones and iPads.
• At the forefront of the social media/blogger movement.
• Extensive celebrity following including Natalie Portman, Beyonce, Blake Lively, Oprah and Rihanna.
After about an hour and several pictures later, I was still swooning over this crazy-cool brand and their eye-for-design. Again a huge thank you to my boss, Satya Twena for the field trip to the DANNIJO showroom — amazing experience!
