Hi all, it’s DIY time!
Yes you guessed it, I am a little bored and going stir-crazy waiting to recover from my recent hospital visit. If you ask me, there’s no better time to get resourceful and get CRAFTY! So today I’m sharing one of my favorite DIY tricks to take those boring thong sandals and make something trendy and fun. This project is super simple! If I can do it in under an hour, that says a lot. So get out your scissors, a long printed scarf, and a pair of sandals that have seen better days and let’s get to work.
PS – If you need extra help, look to the DIY video gods and write their tips down too! Here’s the video I would watch if you’re feeling a little less than crafty today. WATCH HERE!
SUPPLIES: Inspiration, Scissors, Scarf & Sandals
STEP 1: Take a long scarf & fold in half. Cut the scarf into two even pieces. If your scarf is thicker, cut in half again. If you don’t want the scarf to fray use clear nail polish to coat the edges. I personally want the frayed look on my sandal so I left the edges raw.
STEP 2: Fold your two scarf pieces in half and place it under the thong part of the sandal. You will then loop your scarf ends through the circle and around the thong tip… simple knot.
STEP 3: Take your two pieces and separate from the knot at the thong tip. Start wrapping one side at a time around the top of the sandal. You can start at the direction of your choice. Spread the scarf material so that all of your sandal is covered.
STEP 4: Take the remainder of your fabric to create your gladiator sandal. My tip is to wrap first in the front, continue to the back, then forward again, and finally tie in the back creating a rustic, scarf sandal.
