October is all about pink – the “official” color of breast cancer awareness. Pink is one of my favorite colors, but even more so at this time of year. To me, it symbolizes the strength and resilience of everyone who is impacted by this terrible disease. If wearing a little more pink this month – or anytime – helps show support and encouragement to even one person with breast cancer, then that’s pretty powerful. Here are a few ways you can discover the power of pink, too.

This weekend, Keeneland will hold the very first Fashions on the Field event. Fashion at the Races’ very own Briana Mott is here to share a little info with Lex What Wear. Make sure you enter guys and gals, and don’t forget to throw a little pink on for the event.
This Saturday at Keeneland Race Track in Lexington, the Lexus Fashions on the Field will make its debut in the sales pavilion. Fashions on the Field is a fashion competition open to the public 18 years olds and up. Both men and women will dress in their best racewear and compete for prizes worth more than $6000!
Besides the competition itself, all contestants will have their own lounge to hang out and have the signature FOTF drink made with Makers Mark. Ladies will enjoy the Sephora Pamper Point where they can get their makeup touched up by Sephora’s fabulous products and their hair styled by the professionals from Lexington’s own Alure Salon and Spa.
Not enough to entice you? What if you get to walk away with some fabulous Sephora products, jewelry cleaner from Shelia Bayes, and coupons from Monkee’s Ladies Boutique? Every lady entered in the competition gets a gift bag to go home with!
The judging panel will consist of six fabulous people including Thoroughbred Racing’s own Donna Brothers, Lexington’s top stylist Edwin Rye, Chicago Milliner Jenny Pfanenstiel, and more! They will be judging the contestants on the following criteria:
- Style and originality
- Appropriateness of the outfit for the meet and the individual
- Attention to detail with accessories (hat, outerwear, scarves, etc.)
- Understanding and interpretation of the current fashion trends
- Grooming and deportment
- Suitability of the outfit for the raceday and climate.
Even if you don’t want to enter this year (which you should) you need to be in the sales pavilion checking out the event. Get your photo taken with all your friends in front of the TOPS Fashions on the Field backdrop. Check out all the gorgeous shining Lexus cars!
Race fan? Don’t worry! We have all the races on and the bar will be open for business! You can drink, watch, wager, and of course enjoy the fashion all in one spot!
As for you fashion lovers: This is really a way to put your fashion to a test. It’s not about where you got it, how much you spent on it, or who will see it….it’s about how you rock it!
Go the extra mile with your race day outfit, find that perfect hat or fascinator, wear some gloves, match the perfect clutch to your skirt…just wear your perfect outfit!
Hope to see you there!
