It’s hard to believe he’s been gone this long already. When we lost my Grandaddy in February, our world’s all changed. Although he was more than ready, I’m not sure any of us ever were. I think it’s only natural when you lose someone you’ve loved so deeply for so long. But every day, every week I have little reminders that he’s watching over. One of those reminders just happens to be apart of my wardrobe now. Thanks to his love of unique belts, I have a new, favorite accessory.
Grandaddy’s belt is quite the statement maker. It’s perfect with jeans or shorts, and goes with just about any top, from a tee to a blouse. He was a little fella, so luckily it fits me just right. Lately, I’ve been styling it randomly, but it always makes for the calmest days. Like he’s walking around with me, keeping me in check. In fact, my road rage, tendency to cuss, and small daily meltdowns are few and far between when I’m wearing the belt. Maybe I should wear it every day…
This post deserved a little lengthier body, because of how special one piece can truly be to a look, to a person as a whole, and to the longevity of an important memory. Love you and miss you Grandaddy.
