Mix-n-Match

What I’m Wearing: New York & Company Jacket (Similar here), Macy’s Scarf (Similar here), Express Blouse (Similar here), Forever 21 Denim (Similar here), Dollhouse Flats (Similar here).

It’s no secret, to dress well on a budget you must have a wide array of “mix-n-match” pieces in your closet. My wardrobe consists of a number of tops, outerwear, and pants that complement and accentuate each other. Some of my readers have asked if I borrow my clothes or even if I buy all new clothes for posts. To be completely honest, I generally mix and match pieces so they look different from the previous time I wore them. I am on a budget like most of you, so I highly recommend shopping for pieces that are versatile and can be worn for a variety of occasions.

I chose this outfit to show that pieces I generally wouldn’t wear together are actually very compatible. (My point is…you can do this, too.) My detailed scarf adds a pop of color to the outfit and complements my printed shoe. My basic blouse is perfect for this streamlined jacket and I can wear it multiple ways (tucked in, tucked out, etc.). I topped off the ensemble with a fun red lipstick, and one of my favorite cocktail rings from a few years ago. I hold onto statement pieces like this because it can completely enhance an outfit, and add a little bling. I thoroughly enjoy this casual yet fun look.

I challenge you all to try mixing and matching, too. You may surprise yourself and make a few great looks you never knew you had. Remember, easy pieces = endless wardrobe options.

XOXO – Alex
