Monogram EVERYTHING!

As many of you know, showing off your initials via monogramming is quite the craze these days. But this trend is nothing new.

The art of monogramming has been around for a lot longer than we would think. Monogramming started solely as a practical way to identify people and beloingings. The Greeks and Romans used monogramming for identifying rulers on coins, and artists of the Middle Ages used monogramming as a way to sign and identify their work. During the Victorian period, monogramming represented wealth and symbolized social class. Last but not least, I know some of you remember Laverne of Laverne & Shirley and her infamous single, initial monogrammed sweaters.

Now fast forward to today. Monogramming is literally everywhere, and you could definitely calssify me as a monogram addict. I do, however, blame this addiction on family. As a kid I received my first monogram locket at age 8. Yep, still have it! The craze for me has only blossomed with age. My newest monogrammed item is a necklace I wear almost daily.

So I thought I’d share my “Top 10 Monogram Must-Haves.” Take a look at what I think you need to have monogrammed ASAP.

1. A monogram necklace, of course! You can now purchase these for around $30 on Etsy. My tip: Go with a color you can pair with anything and any season!

2. So I won’t lie, I just purchased a monogram iPhone case… You can purchase and design a custom case depending on your phone model and color/pattern preference. Most of us consider our phones our No. 1 accessory so why not jazz it up?

3. Monogram jewelry is stunning! I especially love linked bracelets with a light monogram. You can typically order these bracelets in a variety of colors and sizes, but I am digging the gold!

4. New to my want list is a monogram ball cap! I love hats on a rainy or lazy day, and I especially love the script font on these hats. Chose your colors wisely based on what’s in your closet and the season you will wear it.

5. Decals are all the rage. Put them on your car, laptop, phone, iPad, etc. You can customize colors, fonts, and patterns. Into chevron? This look is bold and classic!

6. To me, nothing is cuter then a personalized bag. It can be a weekender tote or a makeup bag. The more personalized it is, the more I like it! Use a bright font on these. It makes the monogram stand out even more.

7. Well I already obsess over scarves, but next on my Top 10 is a monogrammed scarf. I like the different font options and how they all lay out differently on different colors, textures, and prints. This is a great way to personalize an everyday item.

8. Need a good bridesmaid or sorority sister gift? I am loving the idea of a monogram tumbler. Drink in style!

9. A little something for the guys. I think a monogram cuff link is fantastic. Again, if you are looking for a wedding gift, you can make these as personal as you would like. Guys actually like a little flair.

10. Last but not least, this obsession started in college. I monogrammed just about every college rain jacket I could get my hands on. I love the way monogramming pops on a good jacket.
