So I did a little research on this gorgeous color I am quite fond of this season, and boy did I learn a lot. For one thing, I learned that colors are so much more than just hues and shades. The color turquoise is a “power” color, representing money, protection, courage, love, luck, friendship, and healing. With that said, I think EVERYONE needs a touch of turquoise.
But to be honest, I wasn’t drawn to this outfit because of the “power” of turquoise … that is an added bonus. I was more drawn to the tone of the turquoise and the impact it had on the animal print. Animal prints should not be feared. As long as you wear your animal prints in a limited fashion, they are gorgeous with summer jewel tones and are always flattering when paired with your basics. (You just don’t want to look like you’re turning into a dreaded beast of the African wild, ladies.)
I like to think that this turquoise and animal print top makes the outfit. I didn’t want the rest of my ensemble to be “loud” and distract from the detail in the top. Although we have seen the return of prints on prints, I thought this casual, daytime look was better simply stated.
This top could also be transitioned into an evening look with jeans, a black blazer, and a glitzy clutch or shoulder bag. But on this Monday, I am headed for a lunch date with my momma in the city of Midway, just outside Lexington, where I grew up.
Enjoy!
