I am often asked what style tips and tricks I recommend for readers to try out, so I decided to bring you all a few of my favorite tips and tricks for this week.
Below I have combined 5 fashion-inspired photographs to motivate all of my Lex What Wear readers to engage in a little fashion experiment. I encourage you all to try something new and repurpose some of those old pieces hiding away in your closet. You never know what you will find with a little imaginiation and inspiration.
Here’s my Wednesday 5:
Cape Style – Wrap up this winter with a warm, oversized cape. I love the idea of a patterned cape paired with leggings and boots. The cape is a chic and crisp look this season. You can find a bargain cape at TJ Maxx or Old Navy. Get inspired by the cape Pinterest page HERE.
Welcome the Wellie – You’re ready for rain, sleet, and snow with a classic wellie or rain boot. Some may say these tend to take on an unflattering look, but I think otherwise. Pick out a bright pair for a little fun. They do indeed say, “These boots are made for walking.” Check these out: Yellow Eddie Bauer, Purple Hunter Wellies, Snake Print Bendel Girl Wellies.
Attemp a Turtleneck – No longer a forgotten trend, turtlenecks are sleek and sophisticated this season especially when layered with coats, trenches, or even under some of your summer/fall wardrobe pieces. Try a turtleneck under a knit sweater or blouse this week. I love the idea of a transitional turtleneck from season to season. Try these: Free People, Ann Taylor, Gabriella Rocha.
Borrowed From The Boys – Try a few masculine-looking items that are fit and tailored for a woman’s curves. Unisex plaid or tartan items will carry you from work to evening, and look impeccable with slacks and dark shades of denim. This season more than ever we are seeing menswear trends transcend to women’s fashion. Masculine items with a touch of femininity creates super sexy look and reads powerful and ambitious. Play around with a few menswear items and see what ya think! Check these pieces out: Tartan Top, Nine West Fedora, Guess Coat.
Pin Up – Skip your average ponytail holders, bobby pins, and barrettes. I’m calling for a little more hair detail! Add some pizazz to your typical hair-dos with clips and pins like these. Style your hair up with sequined pins and vintage brooches, or pin your bangs bag with a simple bow or jeweled barrette. Don’t settle for subtle this season! It’s time to show off those beautiful locks with beautiful accessories. Look at a few faves: Free People Vintage Pins, Macy’s Feather Pin, Leopard Bow Clips.
That’s all folks for the Wednesday 5. Have an idea that I missed this week? Email me: alex@lexwhatwear.com with future ideas, tips, and tricks!
