Trend Talk – The Globes

It’s another manic Monday but we’re starting this week off on the right foot. Why? Because last night was the 2013 Golden Globes and I’ve got some pretty hot coverage of red carpet trends, the mani cam, and the glam cam 360. I only devoted my entire evening to this. (Yes, I admit I spent several hours hunkered down on the couch with my laptop, plus a delicious cup of green tea, and stalking the Golden Globes pre-show and live footage.) My mission: to find note-worthy trends worthy of mimicking in everyday wear.

That’s right, you do not need to be a celeb nominated for a Golden Globe to attempt the most sought-after trends of the season. You also don’t need a $5,000 dress and a million bucks worth of jewels. All you need is a little creativity. You can simply be inspired by the top five red carpet dresses of your choice and infuse that inspiration into your wardrobe.

So I realize many of you may not have spent four hours by the television last night studying the trends of Ann Hathaway or Bradley Cooper but hey, that’s what I’m for. I’ve got my top three dress trends turned ready-to-wear must haves.

P.S. – Who do you think stole the spotlight on the red carpet? Share your thoughts with me on Twitter @LexWhatWear

1. OH-MY RED

Two words: Claire Danes. O-M-G the ladies were fierce in red. Below, see how you can add a little pop of red into your wardrobe too!

2. BOLD GOLD SEQUINS

Thanks to Isla Fisher and Julianne Hough I officially want to sequin everything I own. Gorgeous ladies, gorgeous. Sequins are not just for the red carpet. Take their looks from dressy to less dressy with a few of my ideas below.

3. SASSY, SEXY BLACK

All black EVERYTHING! Head to toe black was all over the red carpet. It was sleek, chic, sexy and as always, flattering. I’m pretty sure miss Katherine McPhee showed us a whole new side of her last night but she pulls it off! You can definitely pull off an all-black ensemble too my friends! See how below.
