… and we’re off! After months of dreaming, weeks of planning, numerous photo shoots in 100-degree temperatures, LexWhatWear is off and running. But before we round the first turn (sorry for all the horse racing analogies), I wanted to use my first post to tell you a little about me and what LexWhatWear is all about.

 About me:

My name is Alex, but feel free to call me Al, Allie, Ali Girl, Alydar or any other of several nicknames I’m frequently called – including some that probably make no sense. (Yes, I often answer to the name of a famous horse, Alydar, which is a combination of my first name, Alexandra, and my middle name, Darr.)

I’m 24 years old and work as a web specialist and retail associate at The Keeneland Shop. I am also a daughter, sister, girlfriend, friend, cheerleading coach, animal lover, social media addict, Bravo TV fan, and – last but not least – an absolute style fanatic.

Lace and Denim: Two must-have basics

For my inaugural outfit post, I’ve paired two of my absolute favorites: lace and denim. I must admit that I am obsessed with lace. Nothing makes you feel prettier than a touch of lace. You’ll see it in several of my future posts, as well. I am also a firm believer that every girl needs some denim in her life, and I’m not just talking about jeans. Denim can be worn with anything; dressed up, dressed down, tucked in, tied up … you get the idea. This outfit has both, and it fits my personality to a T. This outfit also works well on a hot summer day, which we’ve certainly had plenty of lately.

I will also admit this: I love a good ponytail. If you have long hair, ponytails work great with shirts with collars. For this outfit, I went with a simple side ponytail so not to take away from an outfit (aka hot pink lace shorts) that already makes a pretty strong statement.
