It was a fantastic holiday weekend with family, friends, and one HUGE surprise. I can’t believe I’m saying this but my friends got me, and got me good! With a few little white lies from my loved ones, I was subject to a top secret party which now could be classified as one of the best nights of my life.
The Short Story of How it happened: About a month ago, I sat down with my sister-in-law to plan my very own going away party for early January. After a few weeks had gone by, we literally had done zero planning! With all the overwhelming emotions of the big move, I just flat out forgot about planning a party. Little did I know, a few friends were preparing the event in full detail.
All along, I was under the impression that my night was going to be spent celebrating the holidays with my lovely friends at KyForward.com. About 5 minutes before we were to leave for the night, Jason (my boyfriend) called to say his car battery was dead and that we would need to pick him up on our way. Alongside my mom, we rushed on our way to pick up Jason. My mom who was in on the secret played her part very well. About a minute into our drive to get Jason, he calls again. “Alex I tore a hole in my jeans, you are going to have to come inside and fix this for me.” After a few eye rolls in the car, I hopped out to go fix his jeans.
I opened the door to his house and there he stood. “Where’s this hole,” I said impatiently. In the pitch black I stood there thinking, what on earth is he talking about. And then it happened! My friends and family jumped out yelling, “Surprise.” If my scream of pure shock wasn’t heard around the world I’d be astonished. I was so surprised, it honestly scared the life out of me.
After coming to my senses, I realized how unbelievably happy I was in the moment; sharing such an important and invigorating experience with the people I love. Needless to say, the night was full of happiness and lots of laughter.
Many Thanks: I can hardly describe the evening without a few happy tears and a smile that stretches a million miles. I woke up feeling so incredibly blessed to be living this life, and sharing every moment with those surrounding me. It humbles me to know that so many people are behind me rooting me on all the way to Manhattan. It inspires me to go to New York and do great things for all of the people who believe in me and will continue to believe in me all the days of my life. It encourages me to know that no matter what, I am still the same girl who dreams big, and loves a lot. I am who I am because of these people, and I am so incredibly thankful for each of you.
On To The Good Stuff: The paparazzi showed up at the party! Literally there were over 300 pics and some too funny to share. I’ve handpicked a few shots (seen below) to showcase the wonderful evening. Again, many thanks to my party planners and all who have supported me along the way.
Enjoy!
