Laid Back Work Look

SWEATER | VEST | JEANS | SNEAKERS

It may not be Friday yet, but today we’re talking casual Friday. I mentioned on Monday that my office takes a modern approach when it comes to workplace attire. On Friday’s especially, a laid back work look is acceptable.
When I started at CMA, I was so glad to throw out my extra slacks, pencil skirts, and blazers. Much like New York City, I could dress according to my personal style. That being said, it’s important to always dress the part. Even on casual Friday, my laid back work look is put together. You never know what the day could bring, so I like to make sure I’m presentable if I’m called on to meet with someone or run errands on behalf of the organization I work for.

My casual style tends to mainly focus on comfort level. As long as I’m comfortable, I’m confident in my outfit. I feel as if many of you would agree with that statement. When I put together a look like today’s, I first think comfort, and then I consider function. Will this look function appropriately for the day ahead? Should I layer in a dressier piece? What’s on the books for today?

For this specific outfit, I love how classic yet cozy the sweater and vest combo is. I added a splash of my own personal style with these funky sneakers. My jeans are a dark wash, which I feel function better for a workplace (personal opinion). My hair is tossed in a bun, but it’s not too messy. For my upcoming casual Friday, this laid back work look hits the nail on the head. It checks the boxes and I’m definitely comfortable and confident. I suggest following similar guidelines when picking out your casual work looks too. It can’t hurt to put a little thought into your outfit ahead of time. That’s what I’m learning with a 3 month old, anyways!

Easy Fall Workwear

For the casual workplace + Meet a new friend

PONCHO | JEANS | BOOTS

Well I’m back to work today, and I’m a complete mess. Partly excited to be reunited with my coworkers, but mostly sad to say goodbye to the one-on-one time with my sweet baby boy. To distract me from this gut-wrenching week, I thought I’d share a few fall workwear looks that are easy to throw together.

I plan to prep my wardrobe every Sunday, so I don’t have to pick out outfits every morning, on top of getting baby ready and out of the door. That being said, easy workwear looks are a must. I don’t know about you guys, but my office is on the more casual side. We can wear jeans thankfully, but I still like to look polished and put together.

Today’s look can easily be dressed up if you work in a more corporate environment. For my 9-5, I’m wearing a dark denim, over the knee boots, and a simple long sleeve top under this gorgeous, knit poncho. You can also throw this poncho over a black dress, slacks and a blouse, or with a skirt and a long sleeve top. It’s a great layering piece, that screams fall!

My opinion on workwear is keep it affordable, and always comfortable. If you aren’t comfortable sitting at a desk job for 8 hours a day, you are miserable. And, if you are required to dress more professionally, you don’t want to break the bank. Get a few key pieces that you can layer into several different looks. Classic silhouettes are always a good idea too. TJ Maxx always has great pants and blouses, blazers and skirts for the working woman.

If you want more workwear inspiration, let me know! I’d be happy to add a few more posts, here and there to keep the ideas fresh and on trend. I can also make the looks more professional if needed.

+ MEET THALITA

The internet is a crazy place. Over the last several years in this space, I’ve meet some awesome people, and even better friends. I thought it would be cool to share some of these incredible gals with you all, in hopes that you would show them a warm welcome, just like you guys did for me.

Thalita Ferraz is one really cool chick. She blows my Instagram following out of the water, and she has an amazing YouTube channel. Her blog, Hello Thalita, offers outfit inspiration, product reviews, fashion tips and more. She got her start in Brazil with over 2.4 million YouTube followers. I mean, hello celebrity! She shares some of the most beautiful content, and she offers a similar message to her followers. I find that more important than anything. Thalita believes every girl is beautiful in their own skin, and she encourages confidence and self love. I can get on board with that, always!

Thank you for sharing your corner of the world with all of us Thalita, and keep grinding! You are going to make a change, and you inspire so many already.

Plaid Boxy Coat

COAT | TEE | JEANS | SNEAKERS | BAG

I can’t count on one hand how many times I’ve pinned a similar look to mine, in pursuit of casual, fall style inspiration. This plaid boxy coat is just the piece I needed to complete the outfit I’ve been eyeing. I picked this coat up for ONLY $30 and it’s currently hanging in my wardrobe to be styled again soon.

All of the pieces I’m wearing today are super affordable, and also versatile. This plaid boxy coat will be a great layering piece all winter long. I can throw this on over a little black dress and tall boots, or pair it with a turtleneck sweater, jeans and pumps.

If you aren’t already, give me a FOLLOW on Pinterest. You’ll find all of my personal outfits like this one, plus all of my style inspiration. I also share life hacks, recipes, beauty and hair tips, home decor ideas, and content inspiration.

Leopard Print Cardigan

I’ve been on the hunt for a leopard print cardigan, and I finally found one I can’t live without. This $29 longline, leopard print cardigan is by far the best purchase I’ve made in a while. Considering it’s UNDER $30, the quality is perfection and I can’t wait to style this piece for fall and winter.

I often find new trends or styles I like on Pinterest and Instagram. The animal print trend has outlasted many trends in recent years, so I quickly became a fan of leopard print, in small doses. A cardigan like this one, can easily be incorporated into any wardrobe. You can style it like I’ve done here, with a t-shirt, jeans and boots. Or you can style it over a black dress and sneakers. There are a number of ways you can wear this leopard print cardigan, and I plan to show you all a few more of those options.
