Christmas Eve PJs!
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! For me this day is consumed with any last minute shopping trips, church and celebratory dinner with my second family the Trudeau’s, helping santa wrap the last few presents for under the tree, and the tradititional PJ swap with my momma!
Every year I attempt a little research to find my mom the best pajamas on the market, and I cannot forget those house slippers. My mom buys house slippers like they are going out of stock forever. If I am lucky enough to find a pair she doesn’t already own, I chalk it up as a success.
This year I’ve decided to go public with my Christmas PJ research and blog a few of my favorites. Of course I owe a huge amount of thanks to Pinterest this year!
Mom, I hope you enjoy and sorry for calling you out about the slipper thing (hehe).
Have a blessed and beautiful day yall!

Dot, Dot, Dot It Up!
There is something so playful and intriguing about the traditional polka dot. Today we are seeing the classic dot merging with current trends via sweaters, colored denim, collar accessories, cocktail dresses, and chambray blouses.
Even designers are in on the trend, re-mixing energetic dots into their recent collections. Thanks to designers like Kate Spade New York and stores like Jcrew, we are seeing a whole new take on how to wear the polka dot.
Take a look at a few pieces that embrace the dotted trend phenomenally! Enjoy…
Spots are definitely the new stripes. Here are a few ideas for how to wear one of my favorite and fun patterns.
• Flirty Skirt – Try a slim-fitting blouse with stripes or with a bold color and tuck it into a fun, dotted skirt. This look is youthful yet surprisingly sexy. Pair it with a skinny belt and a boot or flat. You can even throw on a pair of tights for a winter look or a blazer for an evening feel.
• Top Dots – I just love a dotted sweater or blouse. You can pair a dotted top with anything from denim to pencil skirts to dress slacks. The trend shows off a little personality and creates a playful look. I encourage trying a denim dot blouse with a colored jean. You can wear your fall boots and a complimentary scarf as well!
• Dotted Cocktail – Nothing is cuter than a polka dot dress for daytime or evening. You can splurge on a Valentino dress as shown above, or you can save with a TJ Maxx find for around $30. Peplum dresses are known for embracing the polka dot trend. I suggest a dotted peplum dress for NYE this year! There is something about this print and shape that screams fun.
Check out my dotted faves: Kensie Sweater, Piperlime Blouse, ASOS Dress, Gap Cropped Dot Pants, Nordstrom Skirt, Tommy Hilfiger Dotted Rain Boots.

Black + Brown
Lex What Wear Reader Question: Is it OK to wear black and brown together?
Lex What Wear Answer: YES, YES, YES!
How To Tell A Black + Brown Fashion Story: Once a fashion faux pas; today an everyday and everywhere kind of trend. I’ve been waiting for years for these two colors to play nice and be accepted in the fashion world. I’ve always been a neutral girl, and the day I realized how much these two shades complemented each other, I couldn’t stop wearing the sleek color combo!
I have picked out a few ways to combine the colors in a gorgeous and almost effortless way. Say goodbye to the old-fashioned color rules, and experiment with what you have stashed in your closet.
Black Dress + Brown Boots
This is a super easy trend to follow. All you need is a simple/casual black dress, black tights if necessary, and a high boot. You can chose any shade of brown for the boot! This look is also perfect for an all-black ensemble. Try a brown boot paired with a black blouse and black leggings. You will be surprised at how the neutral colors look so incredibly chic together!
Brown Belt + Black Separates
If you haven’t already, you must invest in a thin, natural brown belt. You will be surprised at how much you will wear this accessory. As you can see below, the options for wear are endless. You can truly wear this accessory with a number of black pieces and patterned pieces, as well as dresses and casual suits.
Black + Brown Bags
To me, nothing is more attractive than a cute , multicolor bag, especially if the colors involved are black and brown. It is not only the most versatile purchase you can make, but it will carry you from season to season. Black + brown leather screams sexy and sleek. These bags below can be paired with both your casual and dressier items. As always, find a bag that fits your style, but I do recommend trying a leather bag like these!
Black + Brown Outerwear
Tis the season for all things outerwear. I am crazy for the styles below and the way each of the outfits incorporate black and brown outerwear accessories. You cannot go wrong with a black leather jacket, an animal print scarf, and a brown sweater. The magic happens when you visualize the outfit and see it all together. This is a great example for how you can put together the black and brown examples above!
